- Word has it that the British Museum of Antiquities
will be putting the Treasures of Hamunaptra on tour around the
world. The treasures were discovered by brother and sister team
Jonathan
Carnahan and Dr. Evelyn O'Connell,
and it was under much protest that Jonathan Carnahan relinquished
his share. Dr. O'Connell was very happy to donate her finds
to the British Museum, saying "These glimpses into the
past should not be hidden away in a bank or a safe. They should
be for the world to see, so that the beauty of Ancient Egypt
can be shared by all." Both Jonathan Carnahan and Dr. O'Connell
recieved generous commissions from the British Government for
their discoveries.
- The Medjai and the Cairo Museum have made
an agreement to permit a brand new dig at Tel El-Amarna, once
called Akhetaten in ancient times. Colleagues of Dr. Evelyn
O'Connell will be overseeing the dig until Jonathan Carnahan
is available to direct the operation.
- The Chronicles of the discovery of the lost
city of El-Amarna will soon be published under the British Museum's
publishing company. The Chronicles are written by Dr. Evelyn
O'Connell and writer Constance Adams.
